June 23, 1976 – William DeHart Hubbard finishes his remarkable run through life. Cincinnatian Hubbard was the first African-American Olympic gold medal winner. The Walnut Hills High School grad won the long jump at the 1924 Paris Olympics, despite competing with an injured heel.
